Presence of God

The greatest thought to me is dear:
The sovereign God is always near
In Jesus Christ, his Spirit lives
Within my heart, and ever gives
Without reproach, he does not fail—
Beside this thought, all others pale.

Be blessed your name upon my tongue,
As I grow old, as I was young,
My inner world your Trinity,
Your loving truth reality,
A realm beyond the universe—
Eternal life from Eden’s curse.

Come near, O Lord, your face I seek,
To daily walk, in private speak,
Delight to hear your blessed command,
To stand and watch your royal hand,
In awe and fear, in love and trust—
Your presence brings to life from dust.
