Father, today I read about your creation. I have probably heard the story a hundred times, and read it myself a few times. But I guess it never reached me in a way like it did today. You are so powerful, God, but you are also so loving and so gentle. You created everything in the universe. You created me.
Your power and your glory make a nuclear bomb look like a minor bump in the road, yet some ignore you as though you didn't exist. They don't give you a second thought. They don't realize that we belong to you because you created us. We are not free to live our lives as we choose.
Your design of this world is perfect. We were made to be perfect, but sin came into our world and we became sinful by listening to and following the evil one. How could we do that, Father? How could we take all the love in the universe and then turn our backs on you? But we did, and I did. You rescued those of us who would turn back to you and trust in your redeemer to save us. You bought us back with the blood of Jesus and his blood now covers us if we believe in him and have been immersed in the waters of baptism to wash our sins away. Just as the flood washed away the evil from the earth, the blood of Jesus washed away my sins from my heart and spirit.
I know you didn't need for me to say all this to you today. But I wanted to. I wanted to remind myself that I am your creation. I stand in awe of your majesty and power, and I am humbled at your mercy and love for me. Praise you, God, and thank you...thank you for everything about me.
