You yourself have said this

Blessed be the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and now the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who has fulfilled all the promises made to Israel to bring the Messiah to this earth! We acknowledge your great wisdom, O Almighty, for your timing is perfect, your solution is complete, your power brings your forgiveness to our need, your word speaks to convince and convert. Make my words an invitation to discovery

Help me to see, O Lord, in the face of each person I meet today, a soul crying out for you, a heart in desperate need of eternity, a seeker who, even though he knows not what he seeks, has yet to find what truly satisfies.

Lead me to engage others in conversation, as did Jesus, steered toward you, weighted with gratitude and joy, laced with the salt of the gospel. Continue reading

Make Me, O Lord, to Know

Knowledge and wisdom are yours, omniscient God,
Our tongues confess that you know what you’re doing,
We are but stumblers in the present world,
And for the world to come, but ignorant brutes.
Never has anyone pierced the veil of death
To tell upon return what lies beyond,
No soul has journeyed there and back again,
None can teach on how win over death.
But Jesus can! Our Lord and Savior lives,
Was raised from the tomb to reign forever more,
Reveals the way, will take the saints to heaven,
He freely shares the knowledge of truth with all.
With all who will hear! With all the faithful seekers!
And such I’d be! — Make me, O Lord, to know
The gospel of Christ, the precious saving news —
This wisdom from above that sweeps beyond!
What wisdom for salvation by faith in Christ!

We have greatly sinned

Father, we have greatly sinned, and so need a great salvation. We thank you for the costly gift of redemption in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Show us the preciousness of this faith, that we might dedicate ourselves anew each day to your service. Continue reading

Let us break the mold

Our Father in Heaven, let us break the mold of religious expectations by faithfulness to your eternal plan and full adherence to your saving purpose. Fill us with love for the lost so that we are true evangelists all, zealous proclaimers to every soul, trusting followers of the Lord Jesus to save for everlasting salvation. Continue reading

Prayer: Make things happen for people to be reached with the gospel

gospel-invitation

Lord, we don’t know how to make things happen for people to be reached with the gospel. Throw us out into the midst of the nations. Put us in the path of people headed toward perdition. Though we ask no miracle, send us to the lost, like Peter to Cornelius, Phillip to the eunuch, Ananias to Saul. Continue reading

O God, our Rescuer, let my satisfaction with being holy be surpassed

O God, our Rescuer, let my satisfaction with being holy like you be surpassed only by my joy over one sinner who repents, because it echoes the joy in heaven among your angels. Use me as your agent for that one sinner to hear the good news that repentance is a real option and that salvation is near.

Thank you, Lord, for no surprises, no last-minute amendments on the final day

Thank you, Lord, that on the final day, there’ll be no surprises, no changes, no last-minute amendments to the new covenant. For you have signed it in the permanent ink of your Son’s blood and sealed it with your Holy Spirit.

In Christ, what a comfort to know that we will be judged according to what we have done in the body, according to the mind of our Lord which we have shown to others, mercy for mercy, grace for grace, love for love!

For reproducing in me the image of yourself, by the power of him who raised Jesus from the dead, I praise you, O God!
